Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio is shaking things up again! Following the merger of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar (now JioHotstar), Jio removed JioCinema benefits from most of its existing recharge plans. But now, Jio has quietly introduced a new data pack priced at just ₹100, offering a surprising perk: a 90-day subscription to JioHotstar. Previously, Jio subscribers enjoyed access to JioCinema with many of their recharge plans, ranging from the ₹249 (28 days validity) to ₹3599 (365 days validity) plans. Now, most of these plans only offer JioTV and JioCloud as additional benefits. With these plan offerings, there is a shift in Jio’s strategy.
The new ₹100 Jio recharge is a data-only plan, providing a total of 5GB of data. While the data amount might seem modest, the real draw is the included 90-day JioHotstar subscription. Here’s what you need to know: Price: ₹100, Data: 5GB, Validity: 90 days, JioHotstar Subscription: 90 days.
Interestingly, this ₹100 plan offers a significant advantage over the ₹149 JioHotstar mobile-only subscription. Unlike the ₹149 plan, the ₹100 plan doesn’t restrict you to watching JioHotstar content on your mobile phone. You can stream on both smartphones and smart TVs at resolutions up to 1080p. This is similar to what the Jio Hotstar Super plan offers (priced at ₹299). So, getting JioHotstar with this data pack for just ₹100 is potentially a steal!
As with other Jio data packs, this ₹100 plan does not include voice calling or SMS benefits. This plan doesn’t have its own service validity. You must have an active main recharge plan to use it. Think of it as a data booster.
Jio also recently launched a similar cricket plan, just ahead of the upcoming IPL 2025 season. This plan offers a 3-month (90-day) Jio Hotstar subscription and 15GB of 4G/5G data for 90 days. The Jio Hotstar subscription is ad-supported. Users can stream Jio Hotstar content on their smartphones and tablets at a resolution of 720p on one device at a time. In contrast, the 3-month mobile subscription to Jio Hotstar costs Rs 149. This means that the Rs 195 cricket plan offers 15 GB of data for just Rs 46 extra. This data will be very useful for live streaming cricket matches, especially for those using 4G smartphones or data packs without unlimited 5G data.
If you primarily need a data boost and want access to JioHotstar on multiple devices (including your TV), this ₹100 plan is a great option. Just remember that you’ll need an existing active Jio plan for it to work. It’s a budget-friendly way to enjoy movies, shows, and sports content on JioHotstar.
